A 60-year-old steam locomotive is expected to make its way through East Anglia next week on its way to a heritage railway.
British Railways locomotive No. 76084 is booked to travel from the National Railway Museum to the North Norfolk Railway (NNR) on Thursday.
The engine has been based at the Sheringham to Holt tourist attraction since being restored to working order in 2013.
Last year it was equipped with the latest railway equipment to allow it to work on the main line and after some trial runs between Sheringham and Cromer it travelled to the north west, where it hauled enthusiast specials earlier this year.
Now the engine is returning to the NNR to be part of the railway’s fleet for 2017.
The move had originally been planned for Monday, March 20 but has now been altered for operational reasons to Thursday, March 23.
It will start its journey from the National Railway Museum in York around 7am and travel along the main line to Sheringham, arriving around 6.30pm.
On the way it will travel through Brandon, Thetford, Wymondham, North Walsham and Cromer.
Although the times are subject to change, it is currently expected to pass by those stations at 3.05pm, 3.15pm, 3.40pm, 5.39pm and 5.57pm respectively. It is also expected to have a layover near Norwich station for around an hour at 4pm.
The times match the original schedule for the cancelled Monday run.
Because the engine is not pulling a full train it is only expected to have a single coach with it, and possibly a diesel engine.
