Daniel Majid, a PE teacher at Stalham High School, was part of a silver medal-winning relay team at the Invictus Games, which have been taking place in Sydney.

He competed in the mixed 4x100m relay at the games on Friday.

The UK team – comprising Mr Majid, Joe Dillnutt, Kushal Limbu and Alex Tate – came second with a time of 50.15 seconds. The Australian team took the gold medal, pipping the Brits to the post by 1.16 seconds, while France took the bronze medal.

Former soldier Mr Majid suffered an injury to his arm in a bomb blast in Afghanistan eight years ago and was medically discharged from the Army last year.

He was one of 72 people – including three from Norfolk – chosen to represent the UK at the Invictus Games, where all competitors are members of the Armed Forces who have battled injury or illness.
