Spooner Row couple celebrate diamond anniversary

A south Norfolk couple will be recalling happy memories from their wedding day as they celebrate 60 years of marriage today.

Douglas and Kathleen Reynolds, of Bunwell Road, Spooner Row, near Wymondham, were married at The Tudor Hall, in Norwich, on June 30, 1951.

On their success, Mrs Reynolds, said: 'Give and take is the main thing. We have always mucked in together.'

With Mr Reynolds, 80, growing-up in Great Melton and Mrs Reynolds, 78, being born in the neighbouring village of Wramplingham, the couple can always remember knowing each other.

They were regularly bumping into each other with friends and as teenagers the two began go to places together such as the cinema at Wymondham.

Of their wedding day, they remember it was an early service which left them plenty of time for a lunchtime meal and a tour of the museum at Norwich Castle.

Their first home together was at Manor Farm, at Downham, near Wymondham, where Mr Reynolds worked as a foreman with tasks including looking after sheep and tractor driving.

The couple moved to two more farms in Old Buckenham, near Attleborough, and Heckingham, near Loddon, before settling in Spooner Row about 25 years ago.

Avid gardener Mr Reynolds then went on to work as a groundsman for Wymondham Town Council for about 10 years before retirement.

The couple have two children - Tina and Raymond - and two grandsons.
