Families living in Spixworth had a right royal knees up after seeing Prince William and Catherine Middleton tie the knot at Westminster Abbey.

Following the Royal Wedding people enjoyed a Prince and Princess Party at the Social Club based in Spixworth Village Hall, Crostwick Lane, Spixworth.

The event started at 2pm with youngsters invited to dress up as princes and princesses for the event with the best dressed being given a throne to sit on as part of the festivities.

Yvonne Bradford, secretary of the social club, said: 'We're doing a little tea party with food bags for the children. We've been watching the wedding up the social club - it was lovely wasn't it.

'We've got a bouncy castle outside and a man making balloon shapes and we've set the games room up for them to have a tea party.'

The Prince and Princess tea party at the social club in Spixworth followed a Royal Wedding Activity Afternoon which was organised by St Peter's Church, Spixworth, for Spixworth Infant School on Thursday.

Reverend Andrew Beane, rector of Spixworth, Horsham St Faith and Crostwick, said: 'Our Royal Wedding Tea party was open to children of all ages in the community and over 60 children enjoyed crafts, a Royal Wedding Procession with our very own Archbishop and Royal Couple and ended with a wonderful Tea Party.'
