Villagers are set to launch a crackdown on motorists who flout the law, by setting up their own Speed Watch group.

Some 30 residents in Ormesby, gathered at a meeting to discuss how best to tackle drivers going too fast on the main approaches to the village.

In the end around 12 people signed up as volunteers patrolling Ormesby, Scratby and California.

It comes after a car ploughed into several homes in the early hours some months ago.

Parish council chairman Adrian Peck tagged it as 'a very positive outcome.'

Meanwhile the parish council was keen to look at the bigger picture of speeding in the village especially at Yarmouth Road, Station Road, and Cromer Road.

The 'no entry' turning at the garage was also a problem, he said.

Councillor Geoff Freeman said the best solution would be to have an occasional police presence.
