Members of a Norfolk youth band received a boost from the Rotary Club of Diss and District to help pay for a forthcoming trip to the Far East.

South Norfolk Youth Symphonic Band received �500 contribution from the club at a lunch on Tuesday, August 7.

Maddy Anderson, now studying at Bristol University, and Hannah Strode, who is embarking on a gap year are both active members of the band. They were accompanied by SNYSB director and conductor Mike Booty.

They and more than seventy others are off together on another trip to East Malaysia, teaching children in Kota Kinabalu in musical workshops and also performing in concerts.

In Kuching, where they will be hosted by the local Rotary Club, they will be performing in a concert with an audience of 3,500 people including the guest of honour, the First Minister.
