The 21-year-old disappeared from her home in Avondale Road, Gorleston at 3am on Boxing Day morning, without a mobile phone wearing just a vest and shorts.

Subsequent CCTV footage captured her heading towards the seafront a short time later, but there have been no other confirmed sightings since then.

Now, almost a week on from her disappearance, and after extensive searches have been carried out along the Norfolk and Suffolk coast, volunteers are being sought as a door to door search is conducted in Gorleston this afternoon.

A spokesman said: 'I need a group of volunteers who can help go door to door in Gorleston. We will be starting at Gorleston beach, as this was the place Sophie was last seen walking too, meeting in the green outside Porter's Steak House at 2.30pm. A door to door search will take place to try to reach people that may not know that Sophie is missing.'
