There's something in store for Leavers and Remainers at this north Norfolk business.
A deli in north Norfolk has launched four tongue-in-cheek products in the final countdown to our fateful date with Europe. And no, we don't mean the Eurovision Song Contest.
As we await Brexit Day (March 29) with a trepidation unparalleled since we anticipated the Millennium Bug, The Norfolk Deli in Hunstanton is offering Brexit Hampers, which owner Mark Kacary says are 'designed for people of either side to reach out to each other by sharing some of the best that Britain or Europe has to offer.'
Each hamper, he adds, comes with a flag to wave!
Customers devestated about leaving Europe can choose Don't Leave Me This Way, filled with Greek mezze, Polish sauerkraut, Italian n'duja sausage paste, French confit de canard, Spanish piquillo peppers and German lebkuchen. Or they can plump for a continental cheese feast, When A Lover Leaves You, packed with German Montagnolo, Old Amsterdam from The Netherlands, dolcelatte from Italy, French Brie de Meaux and Tomme de Savoir, and Spanish manchego.
Firm remainers might choose to send or receive Love 'Em and Leave 'Em, packed with Norfolk bounty. This hamper, from the Proudly Norfolk member, includes Monty's Mustard, sauerkraut from Le Digestif, rapeseed oil from Yare Valley Oils, a seasonal chutney from Candi's Chutney, Scrubby Oak's Sweet Horseradish Vinegar, Old Rectory Preserves' Bergamot and Vanilla Marmalade, and Spicy BBQ Sauce, produced by Crush Foods for Eric's Fish and Chips.
Finally, there's the best of British cheeses in I'm Going to Leave You – Colston Bassett stilton, Montgomery cheddar, Norfolk Tawny, Sage Derby, Cornish Yarg and Baron Bigod.
Rosie Kacary, who runs the deli with husband Mark, says: 'Our key focus is on locally produced Norfolk produce, but as you can imagine we also offer a range of products which many of our customers will have tasted and bought on their trips abroad. Brexit is a momentous moment in the history of this country. Eating and sharing food is one way to heal rifts and we hope that people buy each other hampers (from both sides of the divide) as a way of coming together.
The Brexit Hampers are available through the Norfolk Deli and Mark adds: 'At the end of the day irrespective of our personal views and opinions we hope that the country come's and work's together. We are working with our suppliers to try and ensure as little disruption as possible to all of our customer favourites.'
