A six-year-old girl from West Norfolk has drowned after getting into difficulties in a hotel swimming pool in the Canary Islands.
Megan Thrower, from Gayton, near King's Lynn was on holiday in Gran Canaria with her parents Stephen and Debra when she died yesterday.
It is believed she drowned in the pool at the Princess Hotel in the Playa del Ingles resort where she was staying.
An ambulance crew was unable to resuscitate her after she was found unconscious in the pool at around 12 noon. Her 12-year-old brother Bradley was also on holiday with the family. Her step-brother Chris, 26, was not with the family at the time. A foreign office spokesman said: 'We are aware of the death of a British national on October 17 who is a minor.
