4. Norwich South MP Clive Lewis, one of only 13 MPs to reject the call for a snap election, ruffled a few feathers during the 2015 general election. Asked by a New Statesman journalist of his chances of getting elected, he said he took nothing for granted, adding: 'I could be caught with my pants down behind a goat with Ed Miliband at the other end.' Mr Lewis was later forced to apologise for his use of 'colourful metaphors'.

5. During the 2010 election, former vice-chairman of the Norfolk County Labour Party John Cowan, who was standing for Labour in South-East Cambridgeshire, had his clean image left in tatters after he boasted about his sexual exploits on dating websites. The wannabee Norwich MP couldn't sweep the rumours under the carpet, and he was suspended from the Labour Party.

6. Chris Ostrowski hit the headlines in 2009 after he contracted swine flu just 48 hours before the Norwich North by-election. The Labour hopeful made a full recovery but was pipped to the post by Conservative MP Chloe Smith.
