A Blofield father who became the first paralysed man to walk the London Marathon has thanked his girlfriend for saving his life after his heart stopped.

In April, Simon Kindleysides completed the London Marathon using a Rewalk exoskeleton suit.

On Wednesday, July 25, the 34-year-old from Blofield tweeted a heartfelt message, thanking his girlfriend for saving his life: 'Thanks to my amazing girlfriend Jenna Winyard for saving my life, after given me mouth to mouth & CPR when my heart stopped at hers after having a seizure.'

Adding that Ms Winyard looked after him until paramedics arrived. Mr Kindleysides said: 'Rushed to hospital and had a further 30 seizures but I'm fighting on recovering.'

Following the tweet, dozens of people took to social media to wish Mr Kindleysides a speedy recovery.

Kate Johnson tweeted: 'Wishing you a quick recovery. Well done Jenna.'

Meanwhile Tracey Littlebury said: 'Stay Strong Simon - and get well soon!'

Mr Kindleysides was diagnosed with a functional neurological disorder and a glioma brain tumour in 2013, leaving him paralysed from the waist down.

He completed the London Marathon over two days in 27.5 hours in April 2018.
