A Cromer shopkeeper is undertaking a gruelling challenge to raise money for the Prostate Cancer UK charity.

Steven Burbidge, who runs Cromer Trophies & Engraving Ltd in West Street, is taking part in a 200-mile cycle event around the Norfolk border in a single day.

The event is not until July 8, but Mr Burbidge has already raised £500.

He said: “I set an initial, conservative target of £250 - and over £300 has come from our amazingly generous shop customers.

“My dad went through radiotherapy for the disease recently. He is now okay, but as the most common cancer amongst men, this is a disease that needs research, and this means money.

“This is a big challenge. I’ve done a number of 100-mile rides, but this is such a big step up in distance, I cannot take it for granted I will complete it without really digging deep.”
