Two major incidents brought the Southtown area of Yarmouth to a standstill during rushhour this morning.

Six fire crews were called to a ship fire on a vessel moored in the port at Gas Quay, off Southtown Road. The fire broke out at 8.45am.

A collision on the notorious Gapton Hall roundabout brought traffic to a standstill in all directions at 8.23am.

A Renault Clio collided with a Suzuki motorcycle on the roundabout that takes traffic into Yarmouth from Gorleston and Lowestoft.

The roundabout was closed with fuel leaking from the bike. The motorcyclist was taken to the James Paget Hospital, Gorleston, with back and ankle injuries that were not being described as serious.
