Wacky sailing craft cobbled together from backyard junk ranging from plastic barrels to old bicycles will take to the waves at Sheringham on Sunday, in the annual carnival raft race, which sets off from the west beach at midday.
The event, which was won last year by lifeboat crew members Andy Trend and Steve Price on a drainpipe and insulating foam raft held together with gaffer tape, is a town tradition stretching back decades.
It marks the start of series of events leading up to carnival week, which kicks off on August 3 with the traditional car boot sale on Cookie's field, Beeston Regis.
Anyone aged 17 or over wanting to take part in the raft race should be outside Trendie's cafe at 11am for a 12pm start.
Entry forms can be completed on the day and lifejackets must be worn. For more information, including any changes to the start time, visit Sheringham Carnival (official) Facebook page.
Sheringham Carnival will also be supporting the North Norfolk Classic Vehicle Club show and shine charity night, which runs at Sheringham Golf Club on Sunday from 6pm.
