Nelson's Journey was there for Danny after his father Mark, aged 39, suddenly died at the family home in August 2014.

Mr Bailey died from a rare genetic heart condition called Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome.

As the family was coming to terms with the loss, the charity provided one-to-one support and even organised days out to help them through the tough times.

Now Danny wants to show his appreciation to the charity that helped make him smile again by organising a dress-down day for his friends at the infant school in Heacham.

Proud mum Nicky Bailey, 40, said: 'Nelson's Journey have been a lifeline for us since we lost Mark.

'We were guided through the grieving process and went along to the outings that were organised – it was lovely to see the children smiling again after we'd all been through something so difficult.'

She added: 'It was also comforting to know that there are other families out there also going through a similar experience.'

Mrs Bailey was talking about organising a coffee morning in aid of Nelson's Journey, but Danny wanted to organise his own fundraiser.

'He was very certain that he was doing his own thing because the charity had been so kind to him too,' Mrs Bailey said.

Mrs Bailey is hosting the coffee morning on April 1 at Old Friends Hall in Sunnyside Close, Heacham between 9.30am and noon.
