A service will be held in King’s Lynn to remember the victims of the Srebrenica genocide during the Bosnian War in 1995.
The service will take place at All Saints Church in Hillington Square on Tuesday, July 11 at 12pm.
The Srebrenica massacre is the worst genocide to happen in Europe since the Second World War, where more than 8,000 Bosnian Muslims were killed.
The service will be led by Father Adrian Ling and will be attended by West Norfolk mayor Carol Bower.
Mrs Bower said: “Srebrenica is the modern symbol of failure on the part of the international community to protect the Bosnian Muslims besieged in that town. Over 8,000 people were killed. It is horrendous to think of this scale of genocide happening in recent times. It should never be allowed to happen again.”
The service is planned as part of the UK’s Srebrenica Memorial Week which runs from July 9 - 16.
