The two most affordable resorts for a staycation are in the Great Yarmouth borough, research has suggested.

According to research conducted by holiday homes website holidaylettings.co,uk and TripAdvisor, Hemsby is the most affordable place for a family to go over the spring bank holiday weekend - while Great Yarmouth is the second most affordable.

The research, which assessed prices of letting a holiday home between May 26 and 28, saw Hemsby top the list, with an average rate of £148 for a stay. Great Yarmouth came in just behind, with an average rate of £154.

Saskia Welman, spokesman for holidaylettings.co.uk, said: 'Most two-bedroom properties sleep four people, so for just over £12 per person, per night, you can really make the most of the long weekend. 'And where better than Hemsby and Great Yarmouth? With miles of golden sands and bucket loads of traditional seaside entertainment.'
