One thousand balloons were released at a popular city running event, as part of a moving fundraiser to continue the search for missing Norwich man Michael Seger.

Mr Seger was last seen in the Rouen Road area just after 10pm on March 7. Despite a high-profile social media campaign, led by his partner, Sandie Smith, Mr Seger has still not been found.

The father-of-four was a regular competitor at the Catton Park parkrun event and on Saturday fellow runners watched a balloon release following the race while guitarist Andy Martin, 29, from Wroxham, played acoustic tracks by the Foo Fighters, one of Mr Seger's favourite bands, and Green Day.

People were able to purchase balloons for £1 and write their own messages to Mr Seger on them with money received going towards helping to keep the search effort going.

Miss Smith, who attended the event with her children on her first trip back to Catton Park since Mr Seger went missing, said: 'We've raised more than £1,000 from the event, which really will help to further the search in a wider area and go towards travel expenses.

'It's nice for us to do it as a family in an area Michael loved so much. It's nice for the parkrun community to be here because he loved doing it.'

Saturday's balloon release was organised by Kat Foy, a volunteer for the charity Missing People, after hearing about Miss Smith's story.

Anyone with information about Mr Seger's whereabouts should call police on 101.
