‘Fantastic opportunities’ as new apprenticeships are unveiled

A leading employer is launching a new apprentice recruitment drive for its East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm.
ScottishPower Renewables is seeking people with a passion for science, maths, engineering, problem solving and those with good communication skills and a strong team ethic to serve as mechatronics maintenance apprentice technicians on the windfarm being developed 30 miles off the Suffolk coast.
Based at East Coast College Lowestoft campus, the two long-term apprenticeships are open to those with four GCSEs A-C/4-9 grades in English, Maths and Science.
The three-year programme will see the successful applicants receive on the job learning and unique work experience opportunities.
Charlie Jordan, Project Director at ScottishPower Renewables for East Anglia ONE, said: “Through our East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm we are continuing to deliver by providing jobs and skills training to important areas such as Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth.

The apprentices will be based at East Anglia ONE’s state-of-the-art new operations and maintenance building at Hamilton Dock, Lowestoft; a key part of a £25million investment made by ScottishPower Renewables into the port.
Steven Hodger, principal site manager for East Anglia ONE at ScottishPower Renewables, said: “We are seeking two enthusiastic apprentices to join our East Anglia ONE team and be a part of an industry which is bringing real change in how our lives are powered through facilitating the transition from fossil fuels to cleaner, green energy sources.
“Investing in our future workforce is paramount to attaining the skilled personnel we require to operate our windfarms and we are keen to continue providing long-term career opportunities for local people.
