Year Seven pupils at Neatherd High School in Dereham have had a head start on the new school year, with a carnival themed summer school.
One hundred and forty Year Seven pupils enjoyed a week of summer school, ahead of the new term beginning in September.
Students were divided into groups named after famous carnivals: Notting Hill, Rio, Santa Cruz, Cologne and Mardi Gras.
They enjoyed creative sessions, including dance, art, creative writing, textiles, circus skills, and music workshops.
The week culminated in a performance in front of parents that brought all the colours of the carnival to Dereham.
'The move from primary to secondary School is an exciting but challenging moment for young people', said Nick O'Brien, assistant headteacher at Neatherd.
He added: 'The purpose of the week is for them to spend time at their new school, and for them to make new friends.'
'I really enjoyed the Summer School week', said Charlie Ellis, a Year Seven pupill. 'You can get to grips with how school works and everything will not be so scary when we start in September.'
'It was awesome', was the verdict of Maisie-Ella Cook, who said: 'I liked the idea of the carnival, it was great fun to sing, dance and play music.'
