A couple who suffered the devastating loss of their daughter are putting together a special film screening as part of Baby Loss Awareness Week.
Liam and Sarah Chapman, from King's Lynn, have organised a community event at the King's Centre Church, Wellesley Street, where visitors can watch award-winning documentary Still Loved on Thursday, October 11.
The film, which tells the stories of families after the loss of an infant, will coincide with Baby Loss Awareness Week taking place between October 9-15.
Mrs Chapman went into natural labour on February 17 this year, but when she arrived at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) she was given the devastating news that her daughter, Eliza Jane, had passed away in her womb. Since then, the couple have used their painful experience to raise awareness of stillbirths. They have raised more than £6,000 for Theresa's Tiny Treasures, a charity run by former midwife Theresa Ann McGrath who creates special keepsakes for families who have lost a baby.
They will also be running the Perkins Great Eastern half marathon in Peterborough on Sunday, October 14 to raise money for baby charity Tommy's.
'We are doing the best we can,' Mrs Chapman said. 'If we are blessed with Eliza's brother or sister one day we will be monitored by Tommy's at their rainbow clinic alongside care from the QEH. It's really important for us to raise money for Tommy's as they are the leading researchers for miscarriages and stillbirth.
'We miss Eliza every day but are so incredibly thankful for the time we had with her. She is our most precious gift.
'In her honour, we will be better people - kinder, slow to react and more present in our day-to-day lives.'
Baby Loss Awareness Week will end with the Wave of Light, a global event in which families are encouraged to burn a candle at 7pm on Monday, October 15 to commemorate all babies who have died too soon. The couple have arranged for King's Lynn Town Hall to be lit in pink and blue for the event.
