Roys of Wroxham has donated £400 towards a project to install a motor beneath a replica 1930s yacht.
The company presented a cheque to Peter Howe, a trustee of the Broads Charitable Trust, and Richard Elson of the Heritage Fleet Trust.
The Broads trust has provided a grant to the heritage fleet, which is based at Hunter’s Yard in Ludham, to fit an electric motor beneath the hull of the Lucent yacht.
It is hoped the motor will “enhance the attraction of the yacht” to a wider range of families and young people, by making it easier for them to enjoy sailing, a spokesman for Roys of Wroxham said.
The money was donated from Roys’ MADL (Making a difference locally) fund, which is money raised through the sale of grocery products. Roys donates this money to charities and good causes within the local communities surrounding their stores.
