A popular sports and activity centre has been boosted by the Rotary Club of Beccles.

Rotarian Bernard Welland-Jones, of the Rotary Club of Beccles, presented a cheque for £1,580 to representatives of the Sir John Leman High School to provide the main funds for a new kitchenette at The Venue.

Julia Niblock, the high school’s director of business and finance, and Donna Harmer, the business support manager, received the cheque.

With the benefit of the new facilities that are already being fitted out, The Venue – which is a sports and activity centre on the school site – will be able to host more varied community groups and events that need the use of the kitchenette to operate.

The Rotary Club raises funds from activities such as the Beccles Cycle for Life charity ride and is helped in no small measure by the use of the school as a base for the event. Both the club and the school are looking forward with enthusiasm to further mutual support.
