Police are hunting for an armed robber who held up a Great Yarmouth fish and chip shop while wielding a handgun.

The robber, who was wearing a balaclava, threatened a worker in the Fish 'n' Chick'n restaurant, at the top of Regent Road, at about 6pm tonight.

He demanded money from the male member of staff and took a quantity of cash from a safe. Nobody was hurt in the raid.

Norfolk police believe the robber got into the shop, which was closed at the time, through a back entrance. He made his escape from the back door.

The robber is described as stocky and 6ft 1ins tall. He was wearing a black balaclava.

Police are appealing for witnesses and said 'enquiries are ongoing' to locate the raider.

Anyone who saw the robbery or noticed any suspicious activity should contact Great Yarmouth CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
