Robber flees empty-handed from Wisbech shop after threatening female assistant with baseball bat

A masked robber fled empty-handed after threatening a female shop worker with a baseball bat.

He stormed into Mount Pleasant Newsagents, in Edinburgh Drive, Wisbech and demanded cash on Thursday afternoon.

Police said the man was wearing a scarf covering the lower part of his face. He was wearing a light-grey hooded-top and dark-grey tracksuit bottoms.

Det Con Simon Rust, of Wisbech CID, said: “This was a frightening experience for the member of staff who was threatened with a wooden bat.

“I would appeal to anyone who has any information to contact police.”
