A road has been re-opened by police, after a man died when his car crashed into a water-filled ditch in west Norfolk this morning.
Police were contacted just after 7.25am to reports of a Volkswagen car in a water-filled ditch at Gravel Bank, St Johns Fen End, near Wisbech.
A police spokesman said: 'Emergency services attended and a male was discovered inside the vehicle. Efforts were made to resuscitate him, however he was pronounced dead at the scene.'
Norfolk Accident and Rescue Service critical care paramedic Ryan Warwick was also dispatched to the scene.
Fire crews from King's Lynn and Terrington attended and used water rescue equipment to help the East of England Ambulance Service. The East Anglian air ambulance was also called.
The road was closed in both directions for about five hours.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident. Call the roads policing team at Norfolk Constabulary on 101.
