A lifeboat crew came to the rescue of a stranded yacht off the Suffolk coast after its engine failed.
Just after 1pm on Sunday, July 12, the volunteer crew of the RNLI were called to the aid of a 23ft motor yacht stranded off the Lowestoft coast near to Links Road.
Engine failure meant that they were unable to return to shore - and despite the yacht crew’s best efforts to restart their engine, the boat was forced to drop anchor and contact HM Coastguard for help.
Lifeboat coxswain John Fox said: “The vessel was only a short distance off the coast and we were able to connect a towline.
“We then took the boat through the bascule bridge and back to her mooring in Oulton Broad.”
“By 2.30pm, the yacht and its crew were safely back on land.”
