A new art exhibition is under starter’s orders as it looks to boost a worthy cause.
The exhibition, entitled ‘Horses, Hores, Horses...and other stuff’ started at the Windsor Gallery in Kirkley, Lowestoft on Monday, June 15.
It continues until August 31, with all proceeds raised to be donated to Pakefield Riding School and Riding for the Disabled Association, in support of the valuable contribution they make in the lives of users and volunteers in the area.
By holding the exhibition, Windsor Gallery, on London Road South, is aiming to raise money to help support the riding school who have been struggling through lockdown as the horses still need feeding and looking after.
Steve Hammond, from Windsor Gallery, said: “For the past 75 years, Pakefield Riding School proprietors Tess and John Hardy and their family have offered young people the opportunity of gaining key life skills and hands on animal care at the stables.
“It is because of the enormous influence the riding school has had in children’s lives that we decided to stage this exhibition.
“As a parent it is so reassuring to know your children are spending time in a safe and beneficial environment where they are highly valued.
“Many people from various walks of life get enormous pleasure from the services they offer through the Riding for the Disabled Association.”
With the support of artists, who have kindly donated pieces of art, these are on sale in the exhibition alongside some photos of the horses from the stables.
Mr Hammond said: “We also have a donation bucket for the Riding for Disabled Association.
“People are also able to put in an offer, in a sealed envelope, for any of the pieces, and if at the end of the exhibition it is not sold, we will accept the highest offer.
“Lower offers may also be submitted by email or in a sealed envelope for any artwork on display.”
Mr Hammond added: “We would like to thank all the local artists who have generously donated artwork.
