A woman and her uncle are spending a year of their lives fundraising every month for a guide dog charity.

This is because Nicola Burman’s four-year-old daughter Evelen is registered blind due to optic nerve atrophy.

Miss Burman, from Attleborough, and her uncle Richard Dade, from Wymondham, are aiming to raise £10,000 for Guide Dogs For The Blind by the end of 12 months.

Miss Burnam, 34, said: “My daughter is registered blind, and later on in life she will need a guide dog.

“A dog is about £30,000 to train and costs £55,000 overall and Evie may have eight dogs in her lifetime.

“The charity has offered their support and I wanted to give something back to them.

Miss Burman added: “We raised £2,500 at a charity race night at Hethersett village hall last month. It was really successful, 126 people were there and everyone enjoyed it. There might well be another one of those.”

Mr Dade, 48, is competing in his 12th London marathon this April and other upcoming activities include a Bouncathon sponsored by Norwich estate agents Pymm and Co, which will be held from 8am till 8pm on May 6 at the Holiday Inn on Ipswich Road. Each hour of bouncing has a theme, including men’s hour and 90s music, and there will be two people bouncing at any one time.

Tickets are £10 with unlimited bouncing time.

In June Miss Burman, her sister and Mr Dade will take part in a sponsored sky dive, and in July they are organising a quiz and chips.

August will see a more spectacular effort as a team put together by Miss Burman climbs up the Greenwich O2.

She said: “Hopefully we’ll have a really fun day.

“Autumn will involve a lot of running. In September I’ll run a 5K in an inflatable obstacle course in Earlham Park and Richard is doing the Great North Run in Newcastle. In November I’m doing the Snetterton half marathon.

“We’re both helping each other out because Richard is much more of a runner than I am but I’m much happier throwing myself out of a plane on a skydive than he is.
