A former farm worker died from injuries he received from a car accident nearly 60 years ago.
Ivan Coleby, 81, of Elderton Lane in Antingham, near North Walsham, died on March 4 after being admitted to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
During today's inquest opening at Norwich's Carrow House, senior coroner Jacqueline Lake said Mr Coleby was in a road traffic collision in 1960 and had died as a result of his injuries.
His cause of death was large bowel pseudo-obstruction, immobility and low blood potassium levels, known as hypokalemia.
Mr Coleby also suffered with quadriplegia - paralysis caused by illness or injury that results in the partial or total loss of use of all four limbs and torso - due to a car accident fracture.
A full inquest into his death is due to take place at noon on July 4 at Carrow House on King Street.
