Residents of Yaxham are being asked to vote twice on May 4 - firstly for a county councillor and secondly for their Neighbourhood Plan.
A referendum on the village plan asks the 689 residents of Yaxham to vote for or against it and if a simple majority vote in favour is made then it will become part of planning policy for Breckland Council.
The Neighbourhood Plan covers such things as maintaining Yaxham as an independent village by restricting development between Yaxham and nearby Dereham, protecting green spaces, the rural nature of the village and the distinctive character of the parish.
Maggie Oechsle, chairman of the NP4Yaxham Working Group, paid tribute to everyone involved from the working group itself to all those who helped with surveys, newsletters, events and meetings since the public meeting in September 2015 when some 80 residents of the village decided to undertake the project.
