Residents of Wells are being urged to help shape the town's future.

The Wells Coastal Communities Team has produced a questionnaire to find out people's thoughts on a range of issues ranging from second homes and the fishing industry to the impact of traffic and growing tourism.

The results from the survey will feed into a report that is being created with other town stakeholders including Wells Town Council, North Norfolk District Council, the Holkham Estate and Alderman Peel High School.

The report will be used in the creation of what the team has named the Destination Management Plan.

Their goal is to plan and raise money for the development Wells over the next five years, while ensuring the needs of residents, local businesses, visitors and the environment are taken into consideration.

Melanie Harriss from Wells Coastal Communities Team said they urge everyone with an opinion on the town's future to complete the survey so that they can gather as many views and ideas as possible.

'We feel the survey is important and people should take part in it, those who live and works in Wells and visitors, because it is a chance to air their views about Wells and how they would like to see it develop over the next five years,' she said.

'We hope that this survey and the other research will be received well by the key stakeholders, who have an influence over the future development of the town, and welcomed by them to produce a five year plan for the town with accountable actions.'

The idea of a development plan came from the town's growing popularity as a holiday destination which has placed a significant strain on infrastructure, facilities and the environment.

When it was proposed in May, town council chairman, Allen Frary, embraced the idea saying he hopes it will contribute to the council's work in addressing the impact of tourism.

The questionnaire is online or alternatively paper copies are available at the town library, post office or tourist information centre. These venues also have sealed boxes for return of the survey once completed.

The deadline is September 30, 2017.
