An initiative in Dereham that aims to encourage the town to be welcoming to walkers has announced two events for Easter.

The Dereham Walkers are Welcome group has partnered with Dereham Windmill to invite residents to take part in a six and a half mile walk on April 15 that will take them across a paths which the group has recently helped to improve.

Ken Hawkins, chair of Dereham Walkers said: 'It is a little over two hours. It will take people across open land to the south and east of Dereham and return round the top edge of Neatherd Moor to the windmill, where walkers can enjoy drinks and piece of cake in the café.'

That will be followed by a 'Walk in Wonderland' treasure hunt on April 17 for children and families around Neatherd Moor, with every child being rewarded with an Easter Egg.

Anyone interested in taking part can find out more at the group's webpage http://www.DerehamWaW.org.uk.
