Towns across mid-Norfolk are preparing to mark Remembrance Day, with parades and services planned in Dereham, Fakenham, and Wells.

On Saturday, November 11, a brief service will be held at the Dereham centotaph, followed by a service at St Nicholas Church.

On Sunday, the parade will begin at Cherry Tree carpark at 10.30am before making its way to the memorial, where the Royal British Legion (RBL) will lay a wreath.

In Fakenham, a festival of remembrance (£5 entry) will be held at Fakenham Parish Church, on Friday, November 10, at 7.30pm.

On Saturday, there will be a minute's silence at the war memorial to mark the 11th hour, and the parade will be held on Sunday at 2.15pm.

And in Wells there will be a minute's silence held at the war memorial at 11am on Saturday, followed by a parade and several church services on the Sunday.

Dereham

Saturday November 11: Service including minute's silence at the Dereham cenotaph.

Sunday November 12: Armistice day parade from 10.30am, congregating in Cherry Tree carpark, followed by a service at St Nicholas church.

The Royal British Legion in Dereham are also running a 'pop-up poppy shop' from Monday November 6 to Saturday November 11 on Dereham high street.

Fakenham

Friday November 10: Festival of Remembrance at Fakenham Parish Church from 7.30pm. £5 entry goes to the poppy appeal, and the event features Fakenham Town Band, and their guests: singer Kyra Poole, and the Blakeney Old Wild Rover Shantymen.

Saturday November 11: The town council act of remembrance at the war memorial at 11am, which will include laying a wreath.

Sunday November 12: The armistice day parade will gather at Queens Road Junior School at 2.15pm, before proceeding to the church for a service at 3pm.

Anyone planning to come along is reminded they will be able to use the carpark free of charge.

Wells

Saturday November 11: A wreath will be laid at the war memorial at 11am.

Sunday November 12: The armistice day parade will gather at 9.15am at Holkham war memorial. They will proceed to Holkham Parish Church for 9.30am; Warham Parish Church for 11am; and Wighton war memorial for 12pm; before gathering at 2pm at Wells war memorial for wreath laying at 2.15pm.

The parade will assemble, and then proceed, led by a piper, to Wells parish Church, St Nicholas, for a service at 3pm.

The march will pause for a salute on Staithe Street, taken by the Earl of Leicester.

After the service, the parade will return to Congregation Hall for tea, with anyone welcome to attend.
