RAF Lakenheath is raising its security levels in accordance with US European Command directives.

The increased force protection posture starts tomorrow morning and will last through Friday evening.

This elevated posture is not in response to any specific threats, but allows the installation to validate its procedures and to account for concerns in the EUCOM area of responsibility, a spokesman said.

A spokesman added: 'This step is part of our commitment to the safety and security of our personnel and communities.

'Increased security measures may cause delays, so please plan your travel accordingly.
