A Royal Air Force bomb disposal team carried out a controlled explosion in Hunstanton.

The RAF Explosive Ordnance Disposal Squadron (EOD) assisted the Hunstanton Coastguard and Rescue Team in disposing a civilian marine flare on Hunstanton beach.

A spokesman from RAF Wittering said the flare was a type that civilians would keep on ships of their own and that it was destroyed at the scene this afternoon.

He advised members of the public who find any suspicious items to not touch or attempt to move them and to call police straight away.
