A nationwide charity is looking to recruit volunteer across Norwich for a befriending service, which pairs volunteers with RAF veterans who are struggling with feeling lonely or isolated.

The RAF Association is looking for volunteers of all ages and backgrounds who can support members of the RAF community by visiting them for cup of tea, having a chat on the phone or by helping them connect with local community groups.

Volunteer manager, Katharine Montgomery, said: 'Befrienders can play such an important role in somebody's life and while there is no single type of person we look for, a good befriender is someone that is caring and empathetic, able to build a rapport with people, reliable and a good listener.'

Charity figures show there are 170,000 RAF veterans dealing with issues of isolation. Visit rafa.org.uk/befriending.
