In medieval times churches were filled with colourful paintings and a group of quilters is proud to have brought some brightness back to one particular place of worship.

Shipdham and Little Gallery Quilters held an exhibition of its traditional and innovative work over two-and-a-half days at Shipdham All Saints Church.

Organiser and tutor Jill Arnold said: 'We were proud to put some colour back into the church. In medieval times churches would have been filled with colour with paintings and other objects. We were pleased with the bright effect on the church, and the very good turnout.'

The group has 15 members and started 15 years ago. It takes about three years to collect enough work for a quilting show and it can take a year to make a bedroom quilt. The event raised about £1500 to be shared between the church and the Benjamin Foundation charity, which helps people deal with life's challenges.
