Age UK Norfolk has received a donation from Her Majesty the Queen in the year of her Jubilee.

The donation comes at a time when Age UK Norfolk is experiencing a rise in demand for services due to the current financial climate and funding cuts.

Chief executive Hilary MacDonald said: 'We are delighted that the importance and quality of the service the charity provides has received such recognition. Her Majesty's donation will be used to help fund the vital work carried out by staff and volunteers at Age UK Norfolk to support older people in Norfolk.'

The charity, which is unable to disclose the amount of the donation, said it was a 'wonderful endorsement' of its work in a really important year, as it is also celebrating an anniversary in 2012, of 65 years of helping people in the county.

Age UK Norfolk is an independent charity working with Norfolk people. All donations are used locally to provide Norfolk people with the services that they tell the charity they need.
