Queen’s Award for Norwich guide Jemma
A Norwich guide has been honoured with Girlguiding UK's top accolade, the Queen's Guide Award.
Jemma Kemp from Poringland received the award from Baroness Floella Benjamin and chief guide Gill Slocombe at a ceremony at the House of Lords last week.
Recipients must demonstrate personal skills, work in community action projects, and oversee outdoor pursuits.
The 22-year-old's achievements included attending the Gig in a Field guiding festival and Minivate Girlguiding Anglia's forum for young women.
She said: 'Guiding has always been a big part of my life and has changed and shaped it in many ways. It has given me opportunities that I never would have dared to experience, from trying abseiling on guide camp to being a part of the Centenary Camp with hundreds of other guides and guiders from around the world.'
