The Queen was cheered by local children on her visit to RAF Marham, where she also met crews serving in operations in the Middle East.

As honorary air commodore, the Queen visits the west Norfolk airbase every other year, and meets personnel and families and receives an update on the station's activities.

She was greeted ?by station commander, Group Captain Richard Davies, who said: 'Her Majesty certainly seemed to enjoy her day with us and she took time to speak to all those she met. It was an honour to host Her Majesty in her 90th year and the start of Marham's centenary year.'

After lunch in the officers' mess, The Queen left after receiving a posy from Sasha Nutley, four, and a farewell message from Albert Hornsby, eight.
