Puppy reunited with owner after being found by coastguard during training exercise
A puppy has been reunited with its owner after being found by the coastguard during a training exercise in Lowestoft.
The coastguard had been taking part in a casualty evacuation exercise at the town’s south beach on Monday evening when the Labrador came running over.
With no owner in sight, it was picked up by one of the rescue officers and taken back to the station by car.
The coastguard put out an appeal on Facebook, and after the post was shared more than 300 times, the team was told its owner had been asking for help in the Jolly Sailors pub, on Pakefield Street.
Claire Denby-Hall, from the Lowestoft and Southwold coastguard team, said the owner was contacted and the dog, who is called Bessie, was returned.
“The whole team fell in love with her [Bessie] on the spot,” she said. “Our coastguard rescue officer took her to the pub to reunite her with the owner.
“She was very grateful.”
