Seven pupils from Wymondham College have been invited to attend the Diamond Jubilee Commonwealth Day Observance at Westminster Abbey on Monday, celebrating the Queen's 60th anniversary as head of the Commonwealth.
Tickets to this special event were awarded to them by the Royal Commonwealth Society after they had taken part in the Commonwealth's digital Diamond Jubilee project – the Jubilee Time Capsule.
With the guidance of their teachers, Anthony Edwards and Elaina Bowen, 27 pupils contributed to the digital Diamond Jubilee gift, by selecting a memorable day between February 6, 1952 and June 6, 2012.
The children then submitted their memories in various digital formats, including essays, poems, photos and videos. Submissions included a memory of the recent Royal Wedding, a grandparent's account of the end of rationing and memories of the Falklands conflict.
The Jubilee Time Capsule, once sealed, will become a permanent digital archive of life in the Commonwealth.
