Pupil dies after stabbing at school in Aberdeen

A 16-year-old boy has died following a suspected stabbing at a secondary school in Aberdeen.
The pupil was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after police were called to a serious incident at Cults Academy in the west of the city at about 1.30pm.
He suffered serious injuries and it is understood he died a short time later in hospital.
Police have confirmed that it is being treated as a murder investigation.
A 16-year-old boy has been detained in connection with the incident and is said to be helping police with their inquiries.
Police Scotland said their inquiries into the incident are continuing and officers are still at the scene.
A spokesman added: “Police Scotland can confirm that following reports of an incident at Cults Academy at approximately 1.30pm today, one male pupil has been taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.
“A further male has been detained and is currently assisting officers with their inquiries.
“Inquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing and officers will remain at the scene for the time being. Next of kin are aware.”
An Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman said: “We are aware of a serious incident at Cults Academy today. Police are on site.
“Due to the nature of this incident, we will not be issuing further comment.”
