A high school pupil will be showcasing her culinary skills in a regional final after winning a heat of a cooking competition.

Emily Eves, 13, from Hartismere School in Eye, won Springboard's Futurechef Suffolk finals at Suffolk New College.

The finals were part of a nationwide culinary initiative which aims to help young people aged between 12-16 cook their way through a series of challenges, and also provides lessons and insight into the culinary industry.

Emily impressed the judges with her winning menu of pork wrapped in Parma ham, served with fondant potatoes, asparagus, carrots and jus, followed by a chocolate fondant served with burnt orange.

She said: 'I cannot believe I won, I am in shock.'

The head judge was Alan Paton, head chef at Stoke By Nayland Hotel

The 2016 competition will culminate on March 14, 2016, with the National Final taking place at Westminster Kingsway College in London.
