Town councillors have said that they will hold a public meeting over proposals to install a new CCTV system in the centre of Harleston.
Redenhall with Harleston Town Council is considering spending around 8,000 on the project, which is aimed to resolve anti-social and crime problems on the Budgens car park at Bullock Fair Close.
PC Tim Tyler told councillors last Wednesday that the area had been identified as a crime 'hot spot', but there may be more cost-effective solutions such as installing a barrier to close the car park overnight.
Council chairman Roger Plant added that CCTV could be an 'expensive deterrent'. However, the council would look to hold a meeting in the near future to get residents' views on the issue.
