A heated exchange took place this afternoon between members of the public and health bosses over the closure of the Greyfriars Health Centre in Great Yarmouth.

Around 30 people showed up to a public meeting at Christchurch in King Street as part of a consultation by NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Chief executive of the CCG Andy Evans and CCG chair Dr John Stammers faced difficult questions from the public over the commissioning body's decision to close the Greyfriars GP practice and disperse patients to other clinics and also the to close the walk-in centre.

Mr Evans said the situation was different to in 2008/9 when the clinic first opened and the best value for money option had to be provided for patients.

• Another public meeting is being held at 5-6.30pm this evening again at Christchurch.
