A proposed Wetherspoon on Bridge Street in Downham Market will be subject to a site visit following a decision made by councillors on the West Norfolk Council's planning committee.

Councillor Anthony White highlighted concerns including the location of the proposed smoking shelter and light pollution for the neighbouring houses.

Wetherspoon's exchanged on the purchase of the White Hart in Bridge Street earlier this year.

During today's meeting Frank Daymond, of Downham Market Council, said the proposed pub would be beneficial for families and visitors and 'promote growth and investment in the town centre'.

But he added he had reservations about the impact the proposal would have on neighbours.
