Councillors are once again calling on the public for views as they continue to look at reshaping parking across the district.

A second consultation has been launched by Waveney District Council, with a vast number of changes to parking restrictions touted across Lowestoft, Beccles and Southwold.

Among the alterations proposed in the plan are a new surface car park at Newcombe Road in Lowestoft and a short stay car park on the former Battery Green multi-storey site.

A detailed rundown of all proposed changes has been posted on the council's website. The changes will have impact across Waveney, with alterations also being made to the parking measures in Southwold and Beccles.

In Southwold, one change would see an end to free parking on the Gardner Road site, with the council proposing a new pay and display tariff.

If implemented, the car park would be prised at £1.20 per hour, or £6 for a stay of four hours or more.

There would also be the same charges coming into effect on spaces on Blackshore Harbour and by the Pier.

In Beccles, pay and display charges would also be added to two car parks - the Quay North and Waveney Meadow. Once again, these charges would be £1.20 per hour, or £6 for longer than four hours.

There would also be restrictions implemented on short stay spaces in both the Blyburgate and Kilbrack car parks - with three and two hour maximum stays being added respectively.

The consultation follows on from one held in October relating to the implementation of Civil Parking Enforcement, which would see the district council take on responsibility for parking penalties.

Changes would come into effect in April 2018, if they are approved, exactly a year before the CPE would be implemented.

A council spokesman said: 'By having your say, you're helping us gain an understanding of local issues and possible solutions to parking.'
