Never in a million light years would you expect one of the most prominent scientists in the world to come into your local cafe for a cuppa.

But staff in Sandringham cafe and restaurant were over the moon to receive a visit from professor Stephen Hawking on Thursday, May 11.

Delighted staff took a picture with Mr Hawking which they posted on Facebook, with a message reading: 'It was such a pleasure having Stephen Hawking here with us yesterday! We were so excited we had to get a photo! Such an inspirational guy!'

Amazed onlookers took to social media to share their surprise of bumping into the physicist in Sandringham.

Professor Hawking has been making headlines this week when he warned the human species must leave earth and colonise another planet within 100 years in order to survive. But not before enjoying a leisurely tour of the picturesque Country Park.
